Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) Hires a New Superintendent, Dr. James Morris

The meeting started on a pleasant note with Dr. James Morris introduced as the new Superintendent replacing retiring Milt Werner in July 2010. Board Member Ivy Wu praised his qualifications and gave him a warm welcome on behalf of the community.

Also, Teacher Appreciation Week was May 3-7, 2010, so FUSD chose their Teacher of the Year. Out of 28 nominees, Livia Thomas, a Title 1 teacher with 33 years of experience, received the honor. With a call to salute the children, the highly respected Grimmer Elementary School teacher will now compete for Alameda County Teacher of the Year 2011.
